What We Offer
The Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program provides opportunities for attorneys who want to give back to the Madison County community, to hone their skills, and develop experience in new practice areas. The MCVLP is recognized by the Alabama State Bar Continuing Legal Education Commission as an accredited provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses. CLE trainings are offered throughout the year. Most CLE courses offered by the MCVLP are offered free of charge in exchange for completing one pro bono case for the MCVLP or donating time to a MCVLP sponsored project within six months of the course. Why Stop There?
Attorneys may also earn CLE credit by completing pro bono work through the MCVLP. Under Rule 3.9, MCLE Requirements, the MCLE Commission shall award one (1) hour of MCLE credit for every six (6) hours of pro bono work completed for a maximum of three (3) MCLE credits in a twelve (12) month period running from October 1stthrough September 30th. If less than six (6) hours of pro bono work is completed between October 1stand September 30th of the reporting year, no MCLE credit shall be awarded.
