About

About

Since 1982, the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program (MCVLP) has changed the lives of thousands of low-income women, children, and men throughout Madison County. A private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the MCVLP is the State’s oldest pro bono legal services program.

The MCVLP promotes access to justice by inspiring volunteer attorneys to provide high-quality education, advocacy, and representation at no charge to low-income families with basic civil legal needs at critical times in their lives. Our history proves that equal access provides direct social and economic benefits to low-income families and their communities. It advances the notions of justice and fair play.

Our program serves clients who are residents of Madison County or who have cases pending in Madison County. Our service areas involve civil matters such as family law, consumer issues, bankruptcy, landlord/tenant disputes, and probate issues. No criminal cases, traffic cases, or fee-generating cases are accepted.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program is to promote equal access to justice through the delivery of pro bono legal services to low income citizens in Madison County and to promote volunteerism among Madison County attorneys.
