Volunteer Spotlight – Sheena M. Johnson, Esq.
Sheena M. Johnson, Esq.
Gaines, Gault, & Hendrix, P.C.
- How long have you volunteered?
Roughly 2 years shortly after I moved to this area in late 2018.
- Why do you volunteer?
I volunteer to serve others whether it’s providing legal advice or simply being a listening ear because sometimes they just want to be heard. Serving others should be lifelong mission for everyone. I became a lawyer to serve others and advocate for those in need. Volunteering is another way I can be a resource for the community.
- What is your most memorable volunteer experience?
Anytime I volunteer at the Veteran’s Clinic it warms my heart. Our veterans have given so much to this country it is the least I can do. I will always be forever indebted to them for their service. It can be as simple as drafting documents to contract disputes. Just knowing I could lend a helping hand in any way possible makes practicing law worthwhile.
- What advice can you give other attorneys who are thinking about volunteering with the MCVLP?
Do it! You’ll be surprised how much taking a few hours out of your day to help some means to them. It will brighten your day too.
