Volunteer Spotlight — Coby M. Boswell
How long have you volunteered with MCVLP?
I have been volunteering since 2013.
Why do you volunteer?
I have always felt very strongly about volunteering and helping out those in our community and am privileged to know that I have the tools available to give back to those who need legal assistance but truly cannot afford to go through the legal process or to obtain an attorney.
What is your most memorable volunteering experience?
I have helped people obtain divorces, reach custody agreements, and obtain custody of their grandchildren or other dependent children, but my most memorable volunteer experience was when I was able to help a client complete the adoption of a minor child that allowed that child to have a new home, a sense of belonging, and more importantly, a family.
What advice can you give attorneys thinking about volunteering with the MCVLP?
Just to remember that our responsibility as attorneys is to advocate for the protection of everyone’s rights under the constitution, especially those that cannot afford to hire counsel to provide a voice to speak for them in their defense of those rights.
